Welcome to the Final Fantasy MUX Wiki!
Many worlds were caught in a great cataclysm. Some were unescapable and threatened to annihilate all life as it was known. That was when the Espers arrived. The Convergence, as they call it, pulled fragments of these ill-fated worlds together as a final effort to preserve as much life as possible. These divine spirits combined their efforts and became the architects for what is now known as the Converged World.
However, their first attempts created a world both violent and unstable. The very balance of life and death was overturned – even the Lifestream was nearly dried up. Despite all of their efforts, the Espers were far too exhausted to shape the world closer to perfection. Thus, they rested. The survivors of each world would have to endure.
During the Espers’ slumber, the people of the world slowly but surely started anew. Most were unaware of the hows and whys about the Convergence, but time eventually came to shed light and understanding. Though within a few years, the world saw a massive upheaval.
The Second Convergence was more violent than the first. Knowing full well that those already in the Converged World were in danger but also that they were powerless to control it, the Espers gathered as many people as they could and brought them to safety as the world outside reshaped itself.
The people were returned to a new world and as before, life moved on. As history recollects, a new world was inadvertently pulled in by this Convergence. Theirs was impacted heavily by the manipulation of time-–an effect, as would be revealed later, that came along with them.
Years rolled past yet again. World powers rose and fell, people came and went, and the world slowly but surely began the slow and laborious task of restoring balance-–and it would have succeeded, were it not for the Four Fiends. As the very epitome of the four elements, these malicious creatures held within them the already fragile balance of the world. In order to secure the future of the world, they had to be destroyed…and destroyed, they were.
The destruction of the Four Fiends was a blessing in disguise. While the balance of the world was secured, the sudden shift caused yet another cataclysm. The sky went pitch black and even the wind stopped, but only momentarily before the ground erupted into chaotic rumbling and shaking. The change was later noted as the easiest transition in history, as the upheaval passed almost as swiftly as it came.
Once again, a lasting calm spanned across the world. The years that followed are noted in history as having been the time when civilizations flourished the most, the lands were lush and the seas were as crystal. Even in the face of a great plague that corrupted thousands of the world's people, the Converged World endured. Then Sin came.
Sin, the great destructive beast from Spiran legend, was bred from the darkest desires of Maester Yevon. He rose to destroy and consume that which he did not deem worthy of "his" world. As humans have a tendency to breed heroes to face adversity, so did heroes rise up and defeat Sin. Upon the death of the destructor, the sudden flood of spiritual energy saturated the Lifestream, and the planet cried out as she was torn apart by the Fourth Convergence.
You have arrived at this world... a world recovering from the fourth major catalysm in their known history. This is where your story begins.
Welcome to Final Fantasy MUX! The game officially opened in the late nineties and has seen hundreds of characters both original and from the games, and certainly dozens of players whom have come and left their mark. Some have remained, some have moved on. That, though, is the beauty of the game.
Final Fantasy MUX is a living, changing world where the actions of a dedicated player can change the face of the world's balance of power. Major political and social changes can and do happen, and players are encouraged to get active, take initiative, and become a part of history.
The game is currently in its fourth generation of management, currently placing emphasis on the fact that FFMUX is a player’s game. Plots of every scale, both player and staff-driven, political and social movements of unprecedented size, and a community both dedicated and driven are at the core.
Now is your best opportunity to become a part of that world and place your story in the pages of history!
